Sommer usues a V girth on all their trail saddles, and also on the Esprit dressage and jumping saddle. The V girth spreads the load evenly, so that the girth doesnt pull only around the withers area of the horse. It also is set back far enough behind the horses shoulder, to allow freedom of shoulder movement of the horse.

You will also notice on the Sommer Saddle, that the padding under the panel doesnt extend down the front of the flap like many standard english saddle designs. By shortening the panel padding, the tricep muscle of the horse is allowed to move freely, and is not pinched or interfered with by either the girth or the padding under the saddle.

Many people notice that their horse seems to move better with a Sommer Saddle- especially if they ride dressage and are encouraging their horse to extend their length of stride.
