First of all...why buy a saddle from us? After all, there are a lot of stores out there.

• Experience and knowledge. We know and use our products - we dont just sell them. We know how the Sommer saddles should fit on your horse. We know how they are made. Besides being experienced in saddle fitting, we also received training at the Sommer factory in Germany for adjustment and fitting of their saddles. We use Sommer saddles on our own horses for all types of riding-- Trail riding, Jumping, Dressage, and Eventing.
• We have the Sommer equipment in our shop so we can service what we sell. (we dont tell you to send the saddle elsewhere for tree adjustments)
• We have saddles in stock. -- you dont have to wait 3 months to get a Sommer Trail saddle.
• We can answer your questions about the saddles, and help you get the right saddle.

so if youre shopping around, ask these questions:

1. Do you have saddles in stock? (we do)
2. Can you service the saddles later if I need to have the saddle adjusted? (yes, we can)
3. Did you receive training from Sommer in saddle fitting or adjustment of their saddles? (yes, we went to Germany and did that)
4. Do you use the saddles yourself? Are you a competitive rider? (yes, we use the Spirit, the Evolution, the Esprit Jumping and the Esprit dressage saddles, as well as the Opus all purpose saddle) we KNOW our product line, and we are experienced riders.)

Just a word of advice here.....if the person you are talking to answers no to any of these questions, or gives you an evasive answer, I would consider whether the price they are offering is really that good of a deal. Is it worth it to order a saddle, wait 3 months for it and then have it not fit your horse? It costs more than 300.00 to "send the saddle to the factory to be adjusted" because the saddles are all built in Germany at the Sommer facility in Pirmisens-- international mailing rates are very expensive.

The purchasing process--

Pick the model of saddle that you are interested in and e-mail us if you have questions about it. We check our e-mail often so this is really the quickest way to contact us. You can also phone us at 540-760-3315. We can give you more information about the saddle and your choices of color, seat size, etc. We can help you decide which model would be best for you and your horse. We believe honesty is the best policy and if we think the Sommer is not right for you, or your horse we will tell you!
So drop us a note- we are glad to assist you.

1. The first step in the purchasing process is to make a wither tracing of your horse, and get it to us by email or regular mail. See our wither tracing page for more information on this if you have never made a wither tracing before.
2. The second step is to take photos of your horse and send them to us.. See our wither tracing page for more detail on what photos we need.
3. We order saddles several times a year, and we have saddles in stock. We will sell you the saddle you are test riding under our demo program policies if you decide you want to keep it. You can also order a saddle, but it will take 3 months for the saddle to arrive from Germany- that is their standard amount of time to build a saddle- sometimes they are faster but we cant guarantee that.
4. If you want to try a saddle under our demo program (try before you buy) we will adjust the saddle tree width to your horses requirements before we ship it to you. If you have special ordered a saddle, when it arrives from Germany, we check the tree measurements and adjust if necessary, we check the construction of the saddle to make sure there are no defects, and then ship the saddle to you.
5. Ordering a saddle from Sommer....Sommer will build the saddle according to your specifications and the wither tracing measurements we give them when you place your order. We do adjust the saddle trees, but we dont "custom fit" (adjust the flocking material) on these saddles unless you live close to us, and we can come directly to your barn to make adjustments on site. We DO check the tree measurements to make sure it is what you ordered. If you need the flocking in the saddle adjusted later, and you dont live near us (Warrenton, Virginia) its best to contact a local saddle fitter and have them adjust the flocking. We can provide flocking material to a saddle fitter that you are working with, if they dont have any of the type that Sommer uses.
   
   
   Saddle guarantee: Sommer guarantees the quality and workmanship of their saddles. If a new saddle is found to be defective in workmanship or construction we will send it back to Sommer for repair/replacement. Sommer inspects every saddle very carefully before shipping, so this would be very unusual. If there is a problem with the gullet width of the saddle we will work with you to fix that problem- remember Sommer Saddles gullets can be adjusted for fit, and the panel flocking can be adjusted by us or any local saddle fitter in your area.
